I have just been messing about online with the ABBEY quick quote facility for car insurance.

I will be 30 next April and wanted to see if my insurance premium would come down much. I also wanted to see how much it would cost to insure a Audi A4 Avant 130TDI sport (SWMBO loves them)

The quotes i got were worrying:

Maybe 40 year olds in Octavias have more claims?

Having drove a friends 130PD A4 a couple of weeks ago I really couldn't recommend one as it was pretty crap to drive, nice interior though.

different insures weight cars/age/history differently so i suggest you get quotes from all over

Fabia is cheap as chips however.

Try Tesco and Privilege.

My Skoda 1.8T engined octavia was more expensive to insure than my previous and slightly newer 1.8T engined A4 quattro sport

Try sheilaswheels especially if SWMBO is going to be driving it, then put you on as a named driver, they are pretty good on the old cost, depends on the circumstances though i suppose.

Tesco, Asda, Direct Line, Norwich Union... they've all given me good quotes and/or policies in the past.

Others, like More>Than, Budget! and everyone off Confused.com can bog right off, as their quotes are rubbish, and you'll have a dozen companies who'll ignore the 'DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR ANY REASON' tickbox. Still, it was kinda nice telling them that their company was rubbish as they'd wasted both their time and mine trying to get me to accept a quote

Autotrader have an excellent online insurance search engine which still finds me way cheaper quotes than anyone else.

I agree with that, someone at work made the mistake of putting a real phone number as their contact details. Me on the otherhand stuck in a ficticious one and lone behold never got bothered. Just changed the details on the quote I decided to go with.
