Injector problem VRS 1.9tdi (possibly)

Featured Replies

I think I may have an injector issue. It seems quite specific. If I hold the revs at 1000 whilst stationary the engine will judder quite a bit and if I hit 1700 rpm whilst applying gentle acceleration once again it will judder.

I'm quite sure it's not anything to do with the EGR as that was the first think I had checked with no faults at all. I've also had the DMF checked recently too. Having the clutch up or down makes no difference to the issue.

Does anyone have any things I could do to try and narrow it down? Thanks!

Plug it into vcds is the easiest thing to start with.

Any rough noises from top end of engine?

as it could be a worn cam causing it.

When you say "checked EGR" what do you mean?

Has it been removed, cleaned, inspected and vacuum checked?

Or more simply blocked off for five minutes and taken for a test drive?

I've had it cleaned and had vag test done. I had a specialist give a quick look at it and he said injector or possible cam issue causing it to misfire.

I was just wondering if there were any easy tricks I could use to test things myself.

Remove the cam cover and check the condition of the cam.

Did they check it on vcds for faults?

No faults came up on vcds but 2 of the cylinders were performing a bit strangely.

Injector looms can be a bit dodgy, but they nearly always come up with electrical faults on VCDS - cylinder specific.

If VCDS finds nothing, best thing you can do next is lift cam cover for a physical inspection of the cam, and the lifters.  I would think its rare for a BLT cam/tappets to suffer failure now, unless wrong oil used or not changed often enough.

Agreed, I had this on a previous Fabia it was just like a petrol engine misfiring on gentle acceleration, on full power it was fine and it didnt throw up any faults at all. Changed it and it never did it again.

That's exactly my issue I have. No codes and problem is on idle and gentle acceleration
