Dealer Balls up

If you clean your properly then decontaminate and clay bar it then correct then polish then wax it will always gwt mucky you cant stop that but it means that that deep shine you got from all the hard work or money. Will be just as shiny once cleaned off again. And the paint work is easier to maintain. If you go on inspires automotives website on facebook or instagram he shows you before and after pics. And the results are just amazing.

If your properly clean and polish and then seals they brake dust wont bake itself in will be easily jet washed to looking shiny again. Hard to explain if you have never had a detail before. Im just pleased they are sorting it properly.

And the last paragraph refers to the wheels. I cant successfully type on a phone!!

Glad you getting the car sorted back to as you originally handed it over to the dealer. But why don't you seek compo or a gesture of goodwill? You are the one having the courtesy car and having to miss out driving (and enjoying) your own car and you do appear to be a proper petrolhead. I would definitely be asking for a token of goodwill after all they have wasted your time.

I do love cars. Had a mk2 octavia vrs tsi. After that an Audi s4 b8 stage 2 avant. I will miss my car, I suppose lawfully they are rectifying the issues. So goodwill gestures would be totally discretionary. They obviously dont give a **** about keeping me as a customer.

Not sure if this will be a totally irrelevant comment or something that will eat away at you bit here goes....

If they re spray the boot will that ruin the effect of the detailing? I might just have put that thought in your head now, I may have waited until after the re spray and then got it detailed at the dealers cost.

I've never had a car detailed, tbh I can't afford it (well swmbo tells me I can't) but I do appreciate a well looked after car, and I enjoyed reading your little detailing write up as I wasn't aware of the process or the reversal effects a 'standard' wash can do.

If you get time and a dry spell it would be good to see some photos after you pick up on Saturday

Thanks for insight all. Really ?? Why god why ? What effort is it to just change water in a bucket ? You can even collect rainwater so its not like its about money.

Christ I'll ask them not to wash mine when I next go in for service ! Might deliberately take it in dirty as well just to be sure lol

Truck wash/TFR is used as it makes it a damn sight easier for them to get a dirty car v clean v quickly. They might have to clean tens of dozens of cars a day so I guess time is rather of the essense.

Sure it strips wax/applied coatings off of the paintwork (is largely what its designed to do) but it does get the job done. That in itself shouldnt knacker your paintwork (as it should be used in v appropriate dilution) its often how they go about removing the excess moisture and drying the car that causes the issues.

Im generally thankful for it being cleaned as otherwise it'd stay dirty for months at a time (a young family and 25/30k miles per year isnt condusive to an immaculate car).

That said Im v much a bucket, sponge and chamois type of guy when it comes to washing a car and no detailer :-)

From a similar experience, when the car gets dropped at the dealers, I take a photo of each wheel, and one of each side and front back of the car. Takes a minute.

Now try telling me you didn't do it!

Yes the boot respray will effect it it will need polishing again. But with fresh paint and laquer its much easier to correct and it will just be to the boot area. So i will be able to do this myself. As very little correction will req,d which is the in depth process.

Yes i have a young family and work busy 13 hr shifts. I just juggle time effectively.... Well most of the time lol

I can fully understand the detailing if you buy the car outright or intend on keeping it a long while. Why not keep it looking A1.

For those lease and business car users detailing is maybe something not understood.

I don't take photos every time my car visits the dealer but I do visually check it over. Once it was returned with a couple of hairline scratches so I made a beline for the dealer principal and he got it sorted immediately.
