Service

Featured Replies

So last month or so I wrote on here about my service being due and if I should take it to Skoda with their prices. Anyway I booked it in but had to cancel due to getting a holiday to Austria for Christmas. Anyway it's in today and they've just called me about some issues I might want fixing. Just had skoda on the phone now going through some advisories.

•Wiper blades front & back £38,

•Puncture on one of the tyres £15,

•Bulging on one of the tyres £didn't bother asking the price,

Oil level is TOO FULL £28 to take oil out,

•Air con gas needs filling £48 or £68 with bacteria killer put in it.

•Break fluid is due in the next few months £didn't tell me a price.

Don't get me wrong I'd expect them to put the tyre stuff on there but this is a big shopping list. And from what I remember I've never had advisories on a service before is this normal?

Also I think it's the first time I've read a MK2 fabia vrs having too much oil in it, and it's not been changed for 12 months / 10k miles.

Thoughts?

Oil level is too full? That's a little worrying! Do you top up the oil yourself?

Does it use any oil? I would be a little sceptical of the oil level. The VRS dipstick can have a mind of it's own depending on the conditions you dip at.

Nope not touched the old level at all. I asked the garage that I bought it from in November if they'd touched it/serviced it and they hadn't - it was previously serviced by the same skoda that it's at right now. So as far as I'm aware they were the last to touch it.

I check the levels now and again, if it's not raining and the oil level is always within range on the dipstick and that's hot and cold.

Hmm...

Oil Level too full.

They need to show you how they checked it.

The Master Tech,   how it was done, cold or warm.   And where it was on the Dipstick.

I would not let them touch the car until you see what is going on there.

................

If the car is in for a Service you are paying to get the Oil and Filter out, and a new Filter & Oil fitted.

3.6 Litres of Oil,

?

Why pay to get oil removed?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

3.6 litres @ £7.28 = £26.20  or Long Life more. Plus Vat. (as much as £13 a Litre with VW Longlife)£46.00

Sump Plug £1.70

Oil Filter £7.78    Both plus VAT.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

.........................

Brake Fluid Replacement at a Main Dealers, First @ 3 Years, then each 2 years.

can be £45-£55 depending on their mood, National Pricing etc.

BULGING ON 1 TYRE.

Looks like you need a new pair of tyres.

Car unsafe now.

Car still in Warranty.

Tell them to see why the AC needs the Top Up, and get a Warranty Claim into Skoda.

Or are they Up selling a AC Service.

@ 2 years it is due a new Pollen Filter. £16 or so.

I thought this exactly. My paperwork says that it should have an oil change but they caught me at a bad time so I wasn't thinking about what they had just said. I'm on my way over to have a chat with them now.

So?

Any news?

Went in and spoke to the Service Manger. He quickly said that it was a training issue and it will be addressed and gave me his apologies, which I accepted.

Then he told me about a leak that I have in the boot - spare wheel well was full of water, and he took me into the back to show me where I met the guy who serviced my car.

They said that they'll need my car for a few days to investigate and sort out the leak - under warranty. I suggested that they just leave me with their courtesy so they can get it sorted now, to which he agreed.

I spoke to the mechanic as I was leaving without his boss being there and he was confused with the oil thing and he wasn't sure what had gone on there either. He did fill me with a lot of confidence as he really appreciated my car and it's colour, saying he missed his VRS. We will see though when it's all sorted. Was just really annoyed with what she said about the oil level being too high, idiot!! First VRS I've heard of that has gained oil!!

Have a check to see if you have any outstanding Service Campaign work.

Has your DSG required the Service Campaign on it.

(They put a sticker in the Spare Wheel Well when the job is done.)

That was quite a Service they were doing, a technician checking the spare tyres tread / pressure, and finding the H20 in the tyre well. (or in there for something else!)

?

Have they repaired the Puncture, been in there for the Wheel Bolt Security Socket?

Yet all that guff about too much Oil in the engine,  weird.

Im guessing it was for the wheel nut as it's where it was left when I checked for it when it was sold. Puncture is repaired but ill ask them about the DSG when I go over.
