This Week Just Gets Better!!

Featured Replies

Had my 30,000 service yesterday, Which I gather was just an oil change, I moved the vRS this morning and low and behold it has dumped oil over my new 5k drive!! upon closer inspection it is coming out of the sump plug. I have tried to get the oil off the drive but to no avail. Can I ask the Skoda dealer who did the service to pay to clean the drive?

Does anyboby know where I stand?

George

P.s. Things have only been going wrong since I joined BRISKODA. Are you Jinxed?

Hmm...good question, will be interested to see what comes of this...haven't a clue where you stand though...

Rob.

Phone Skoda service. Sounds like a clear case of the sump plug not being replaced correctly after the system was drained. You did keep your receipts and invoices, didn't you?

jinxed? How's this? Yesterday I was talking about slowing down my driving and how I'd been driving a bit like an old Grandad for a few months, and there was a N.I.P for doing 79 in a 60 limit when I got home from work... Damn ironic, I tell you! :(

edited to say all bad things come in threes... :(

You know, I don't think I've ever found a suitcase of money in the street....

(here's hoping) :)

I did keep the receipts they are still on the hall table, I know their there because I only put them there last night after I picked the car up from servicing.

I guess the first thing to do would be to phone the dealer and explain what's happened, and ask what they're willing to do to make up for their negligence.

If this gets you nowhere, I imagine if you phoned up Skoda UK and spoke to Niki she'd be able to help (either by explaining how the dealer's not liable or by getting a can of whupass opened on the dealer).

Rob.

Then I would hope you get reimbursed for your drive. I imagine they will have professional indemnity insurance to cover such eventualities.

Because of their negligence, they should have an obligation to clear-up the drive under the consequential loss part of their liability insurance.

Additionally, the car should be uplifted and returned to them for the oil refill and not driven or a technician sent to tighten-up the sump plug and refill. They must also insure that the oil is cleaned up and disposed of carefully under the Control of Pollution Regs.

Thank guys.

Rang them up! and the "Technician" is coming to have a look, so thanks for your advice. I got to remember to be nice to the man when he appears!! NOT!!!

I'm feeling all redundant now. He's sorting it out with the dealer... and I sharpened the sai especially....

Ah, it's not resolved yet...this is the part where someone comes out to do some face-to-face weasling out... :D

I thought that sai were never sharpened, and were not in fact piercing weapons?

Blub - make sure you as nice as pie to him - everyone makes mistakes and he won't be the organ-grinder (not that I'm suggesting he will be a monkey!!). Just insure you are calm and insistant and get them to clear the oil contamination. That is their responsibility, not yours.

Rob

I'll second what numskull said - its a right pain but ranting at someone isn't going to help anything in the initial stages. Go in nice and see how they deal with it - a decent dealer can make mistakes / **** ups but will be eager to sort it out pronto and not need prompting .... if you get no joy then go in guns blazing :borg:

All been sorted, Sump plug wasn't in properly, and with the use of my pressure washer and some Thompsons Oil and Drive cleaner, the stain has seemed to have gone. I was nice to the guy I wasn't rude and I even made him a cup of tea and gave him a biscuit. so thanks to everybody for suggestions and sorry to you LadyLoki as I was looking forward to give you some extra work.

Cheers to all

George

What kind of biscuit? :D

Rob.
