Low beam angle xenons vcd?!?

Featured Replies

My headlights are really low bright but low :-/

They auto adjust when you start car as per normal but seem pretty low :-/

I have tried getting them manually adjusted but the Allen screw doesn't do anything:-/

Will a vcd be needed to program them higher?!?

Yes, you need VCDS to put the car in learn mode before you make any adjustments  with the screws.

If they are factory xenons I'd start by checking the two level sensors.

There should be one on the front and rear passenger side suspension and if either are damaged it tends to give a very low beam.

Where are these screws then and what do I need to adjust them?!?

Any one want to earn some beer money Hahahah

You would normally put the car on level ground and I think it's also suppose to have no load and a full tank of fuel. Using VCDS you'd start the basic settings for the xenon system which would put the headlights in a neutral position.

Whilst they are in this position, the headlamp aim is adjusted by using the allen bolts until they are correct and then the basic settings can be completed. You shouldn't need to adjust these bolts unless the headlights, suspension or a sensor has been replaced.

There is also a chance that you've taken the bolt too far and it's now either stripped or fallen off the thread... Hopefully this isn't the case.

As I say, it's most likely to be a level sensor that's got an issue as they will still do the self-test dance at start up but as one sensor never moves they will be stuck in the wrong position. You can probably find the broken sensor and use the remains to adjust the headlights up until you replace it and do a full calibration again :)
