I have just bought a new Octavia SE business 2.0 diesel and i am experiencing notchy first to second gear change when cold. I contacted my local Skoda dealer and mentioned this and i got the response this is not a problem with new Skoda's and there are no technical bulletins on this, even though i have seen it mentioned on many other VAG forums including this one.

 

Is any one else experiencing this with a 65 plate Octavia? When the g/box oil is warmed up its fine.

 

any advice would be kindly revived

Hi Chris.

How many miles has it done? They do take a few thousand to bed in.

Mines on 2k miles, 4th is notchy.

Its done about 1500 miles now. it don't seem to be a problem when warm. do i can only deduce its related to the viscosity of the oil. I have seen this on many forums and it is well known on audi ones. the common fix seems to be a different oil. a 75W80 not a 75W90.

 

Time will tell

Mines been more noticeable since its been cold, especially on a frosty morning.
