4motion set up

Featured Replies

Hi guys got a 2003 octavia elegance non pd now im looking to fit up a 4motion set up and as im new to this im just after advice on the parts id need any help would be amazing thanks ☺☺☺

.... Best of luck.

You'd be far better off just buying a 4x4 Octavia. They're cheap enough now.

The rear suspension and boot floor is totally different on the 2WD and 4WD, and will require heavy modification to fit the 4x4 system.

A 4x4 Octavia would be the place to start. The floor is completely different.

Bah, now someone is copying me on the 4x4 tdi idea :S, on an other note, i'am selling the 4x4 i have in order to purchase one with better bodywork, will be selling it for £300, v5 will need applying for as previous owner didn't send logbook away have v5c to apply for with v62 form, 2 keys, 107k miles, clutch is slipping under heavy boost, alot of car for the money to be honest.

Definitely go with a 4x4 base if possible, dropping, arb you quickly get to a confident predicatble ride. Even a better 1.8t block or diesel up front, is probably easier overall.

Or treat yourself to some super grippy rubber for summer :)

Of course that last option only helps if you're bound to your current chassis. Anything is possible with enough time/energy, but sadly it's not a simple part swap. My first Octy was a 4x4, looked long and hard at the vRS back then... the 4x4 on the open road with less power and tranny losses held it's own. But I knew then the RS wasn't for easily adapting into 4x4. Little differences, they add up. I wonder if a 'new' more modular platform car might be easier, this is me spit balling 10years into the future. So ignore me.

"can't be done is only a reflection on the lack of imagination of the nay sayer" :D
