2.0 Cr Scout (2011) diesel Jump Starts

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure on a couple of things which hopefully with your wealth of experience will be able to help with!

(A) Can you jump start a diesel? Most markerting material says you can, and

(B) what is the best lithium Ion jump starter for an Oct Scout 2.0 mkii. Batterry currently is skoda standard 540A.

In relation to (A) i think the answer is yes? Except that I am paranoid about damaging the ecu.

In relation to (B) i am looking at the Sealey lstart405, but I have no experience of that starter.

Cheers in Advance.

Regards,

C.

I'd check what the cold crank amperage is on the battery that's fitted to your car and get a boost pack with "at least" the same capacity.

I've used a "Megaboost" now for many years (work supplied) and it is very good. (not unlike this one..... http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/power-start/ps-700-professional-jump-starter.aspx )

When connecting leads fit the earth to something metal on the engine and not the neg of the battery.  After starting leave leads connected for 5 mins before removing.

What makes you feel the need to jump start it?!!
