Turn off rear wiper when reversing

Featured Replies

Is there a way of stopping the rear wiper coming on when selecting reverse?

Have made sure that the front wipers are turned off and have parked before selecting reverse but the rear wiper still goes.

Is there an option in VCDS to stop this?

The car is a 2010 FL scout.

Thanks for any help

Strange, my rear wiper on the Scout only turns on when reverse is selected if the front wipers are turned on, either manually or via the rain sensor on the windscreen (Auto).

Are you saying that your rear wiper operates each time you engage reverse, even on a hot summers day!?

But yes, there is an option to turn it on/off in VCDS, think it is called 'teardrop' or something similar. There is also a feature where after washing the front windscreen the car automatically makes one wipe of the screen a few seconds after they've finished the initial wash/wipe, I think the idea is to catch the last few dribbles  :D

The front wipers do need to be on for the courtesy wipe to function.

Silver - no, they only come on if the wipers have been used.

In my pre-FL if I turned off the wipers before going into reverse the rear wiper would not come on.

However, in the FL they seem to come on even if the wipers have been on at some point in the journey.

Not a major disaster but a little annoying.

Will have a look for the teardrop function...
