Mk1 VRS SE 2007 heated screen

Featured Replies

Anyone had one fitted?

Would probably pay up to £300 to get one, otherwise I might have to go to the ST150 and -15mpg or more.

Why not find and fix the problems causing your car to be damp inside first?

If you've checked all the common places for leaks, rear door seals/hatchback seal/spare wheel well etc have a look at the drain points under your scuttle panel, these get blocked up with leaves and crap then water sits in there and the moisture enters car through the inlet for your blower/heater.

I have one on my 2006, but it probably won't fit a special edition. I'm not sure what the differences are between a standard car and an SE but it must be something important because SE owners always make sure they put 2007 SE in the thread title.

:D

On a serious note, you've really got a heated screen?

Or was that part tongue in cheek too? :)

He has one :)

As Kev said - sort out the cause of the condensation.

If you can't be bothered too - get some dessicants in the rear foot-wells and use rain-x anti-fog on the inside windows.. I haven't had the time to fix mine yet but it's stopped my misting completely.

1 tube of plumbers gold sealant, bag of silica cat litter and a couple of old socks.....plus an hour of your time to fix the door carriers.

Problem solved. The Airton and blower set up on the fabia / polo MK1 is actually a pretty efficient system.

Nice :)

6 months warranty on heating elements is a bit crap though tbh :(

That's in addition to your statutory rights though. So 2 years really.

And bear in mind it's a Motorsport screen, designed to be used all the time the car is running. That will definitely shorten the life of the elements.

If it gets a chip and you claim for windscreen repair etc would it have to be heated?

I don't know. And I wouldn't want to find out. But as it's a declared modification, i don't see why not.

I was just thinking if a normal screen failed they would fit a heated one if requested since they don't actually pay it anyway or pay the difference.

Was just a thought anyway.

There is no difference in the windscreen. There is little difference elsewhere...
