head unit advice

Featured Replies

after some help i have a standard hu in my 05 plate octavia and i want to be able to listen to my iphone/ipod up and im not sure what the best route to go down.

after market head units have issues with the live feed which would result in battery drainage or you have the expensive option of the zenec or the kenwood is there anything in between.

A fairly cheap way to do this would be to buy a fm radio transmitter.

Plug into the headphones socket of the ipod set the frequency to something another station isn't using. Choose something completely obscure.

Then tune your car stereo to the same frequency and it will then play whatever is on your ipod etc.

Someone else may have a better idea of what you can do in regards to changing the actual head unit.

Might be worth posting the exact mode of head unit you currently have as I am pretty sure there are different models for different spec levels of car

After 2007, the Stream HU was renamed Stream MP3. It enabled an aux input connector in the jumbo box between the front seats.

You could replace the head unit like for like with an MP3 unit and connect an aux socket to the rear.
