Am I being tight ? :D

That is what you get now,

lazy traders that know they can just punt your Trade In to WBAC without having to find any buyer or make a profit on it,

but likely can as WBAC is now as we used to refer to 'Bottom Book Price'.

'You will not lose on it taking it in as a trade in'.

Have you tried a For Sale advert in the likes of Briskoda Forum to see if you can get more than £2,500 for your car?

As long as you still have the remaining skoda warranty? & the vehicle its-self has been well looked after, documents, service, manuals (HPI) etc & the garage your buying from have a good rep then all should fine

to be honest mechanically its ifne but its got a lot of knocks and dints and i really dont want the hassle of a priv sale

I understand,

you have to see how things play out then, the Dealers or Traders Asking Price on the car they are selling might drop pre March,

and maybe the offer on your P/X will.

Swings and roundabouts really.

All the best haggling.

At 15k they'll still have a fair bit of margin in that car Id wager.

If they wont entertain the notion of letting it go for £14.5/14750...id probably walk...so much used stock available its rather a buyers market.

£15995 for a 15 2.0 SE strikes me as being quite high in price in the first place.

Dont walk. Run

Dealers are keen to shift stock.

My wife has an Audi TT Black Edition and were looking at the new Mk3 TT. They had a demo car in the autumn up for sale at £35k, which was overpriced ( new price was £40k ) and they wanted our car plus £15k. I offered px plus £10k

so the car sat, and sat, and I played hardball and have done the same deal offering our car as part ex, for £9k. The deal was done o the 31st- last day of the month, when the best deals are done.

Particularly with the Octvias there is a vast oversupply in the used market, so you are doing them a favour by negotiating. They are not doing you a favour by knocking £495 off. Offer them £14,500 and let them beat you up to £14,750 if they have to

Decided that I need cruise and Steering wheel control so am looking at a 1.4 Manual Elegance on Saturday with 4000 on the clock for the same money

will let you know how I get on

Tell them the price your willing to pay and also tell them to be quick as you'll reduce that offer by 2.5% on March the 1st. Even I'd you don't get the car, you'll get to waste as much of their time as tgey've wasted of yours

Regards

does anyone know what comes as standard on an elegance level trim ?

Quite a bit better than SE...

Auto Folding mirrors with puddle lights

Standard cruise (though standard on later SE)

Armrest (as above)

Leather/Alcantara interior

Amundsen Nav

Auto lights/wipers/dimming mirror

High Beam Assist

Headlamp washers with low fluid warning

17" alloys with 225/45 tyres

multi function steering wheel

colour Maxidot

quick fold rear seats on estate (though maybe standard on SE)

Variable boot floor on estate

Front assist is also standard on some earlier and later cars....it got pulled as standard spec for a time due to parts shortage...my MY14 car doesnt have it

Wow thats a change from a diesel auto, your now looking at a manual petrol.

For information the petrols are even cheaper new, so also consider a new one.

The 1.4 SE manual hatch starts at £15925. SEL is £17319.

Considering the dealer couldn't even be bothered to wash and hoover it before taking pictures then tell them you'll do it... for £500.

Welcome the the Black Octavia club :) Enjoy

Good choice in the end. I drove the same model for 30 months - 14k miles no problems at all. ENJOY.
