Transporting My Dog in the mk3?

Featured Replies

Hi guys sorry if this isn't exactly car releated to some extent however I was wondering could you offer me some advice.

I'm waiting on my saloon sel arriving and am trying to work out the best method of transporting my Lab What is the best way to do this as I don't want the car full of muck and hairs after a run etc!! I was thinking of buying a rubber boot mat/liner for the boot I assume that if I place the dog in it I would also have to remove the parcel shelf does this mean removing it evertime I take the dog or is it retractable?? Maybe you could suggest or let me know how you guys do and keep the car clean and free of dirt etc??? Many thanks

Try something like this: http://www.hatchbag.co.uk

Personally, I would want to go with something like this, with an excitable and soggy Lab in the boot. It won't just be the carpet that needs protecting, the sides will too.

Trouble is, there may not be many options out there yet as it's such a new car.

I think the parcel shelf can slide down the back of the seat but you'll need to get that confirmed by a hatch owner.

Dog in the Superb !!!!!!!, good god, I don't even let the wife in mine, let alone a wet slobbering mutt, thinking about it, not a lot of difference between them really, both make an bloody mess   :D

Maybe fit a kennel on roof bars? (Or should that be woof bars?)

The parcel shelf definitely slides down behind the back seats. I was messing about trying it at the dealers a few weeks ago.

The smell of dog is worse. But otherwise I must agree in your concerns ;)

For doggy transport, I'd have gone for the estate.

Anyway, quite s for website for bootliners & floormats etc now

I've been doing my research for my Superb when I get it in May :nerd:

Also, perhaps factor in a dog guard to keep fido in the boot and his muddy paws of the leather seats - assuming you have them on the Irish SELs'

Mine goes in a cage in my combi. It's safer, mess is contained, I can still pack stuff around the cage and with the folding bits of plastic that stick to the carpet (don't know what you call them or if you get them in the hatch) the dog cage doesn't move about.

Have a look at Boot Buddy, friend of mine has got one in his new Passat and he's very pleased.

Getting one for my Combi

I don't know if it will fit into a hatchback as I have an estate but we carry SWMBO's OES in a DogBag supplied by http://www.roofbox.co.uk you would need a medium and if it will fit you will not need a dog guard if Rover is travelling in it, 'cause it aint going no where.  The dog loves travelling in it and is always eager to climb in, more so than she was with the whole boot and dog guard in the Octy.
