New vRS expensive?

I had put off buying an 'old' vRs in favour of the new model, but it is going to have to drive like the dogs to warrent the extra cost especially when specced upto std ie climate cruise zennons, will easily push 20k :nopity: . So will the new one drive

If I wanted a fast octavia I wouldn't be considering a new VRS , but would buy one of the bargain Mk1 versions instead.

Yes the new car may be a bit better to drive , but that 6k saving is money I'd much rather spend on other things

The last of the old ones will probably be the last Skoda bargain ever.

Is the new one worth all that, answer has to be no, speccing it up wont raise the resale price much above a std model, just make it easier to shift, add to that the obvious depreciation if you buy one at the prices you will have to pay at the moment being a new model & your in for a financial pasting.

As for the fabia, stonking value for money, very popular therefore resales should hold up reosnably well

I think the new vRS is expensive, especially compared with the old one, and I think a lot of people will just switch to the Golf GTi or the new Leon Cupra now that the cost differential is less.

Will be a bargain 2nd hand.Reckon it will lose an awful lot of money.

Be patient and let someone else take the first hit and bag a bargain next year.Edit.End of next year/early 2007:)

Thing is I gave the 1.2 fabia, that I had bought as a stop gap, to my dad when I broke my leg. (Now been immobile for ten weeks.) I promised myself something meaty on recovery which should be in another 4 -v6 weeks, currently I have a knacked volvo that was fathers, but will chop it sooner the better when driving again. As I have stated before I was never that impressed with the torque/ speed of the old vRS octy when compared to the cheaper fabia, but I did prefer the interior. Now that the octy can be had for fabia money which one to choose? We had a fabia vRS for 12 months and loved it and if I get one I know ill end up in the octy estate cos HI will nick the Fabia.Also to add to the equation is when the estate comes up for change in twelve months the old octy vRS est will be obsolete so will only have the choice of new vRS which even 2nd hand will be much more than new old one is now, if u see what i mean?

I admit the new vRS is not the bargain that the Mk1 was. That said I have specced mine to the hilt(assuming Skoda will build it:rolleyes: ) and it's costing over

I agree - particularly since plenty of people are bound to fully spec them .. which could lead to some bargains 2nd hand :thumbup: Must admit I still can't understand why they appear to have downgraded the standard interior spec from Octy 1 RS to Octy II RS :confused:

A similiar spec Golf Gti would cost approx £3,000 more a Similar spec A3 would cost about £4,500 more

Only 3 grand price difference between a car that depreciates like a stone and one that holds its value extremely well.

I cant help thinking you you shold have paid the extra now to lose less at the other end.

I'd be in a similiar position to Skodaw,

Golf GTi is a lovely car but I'd have no interest in it. My vRS I is over 4 years old and I want to get the new one. To be honest if the new one wasn't coming out theres nothing else I'd go for, cos I'd just have no interest, and btw anying over 2L over here we get raped with road tax.

The other thing is the space, most Hot Hatches around are just too small for me.

How about buying a MkI, spend £3K souping it up & the other £3K on a mega holiday. Best of all worlds?

This new octy sounds like the Rover 200/400 scenario back in 1995.

Rover had a good car in the 200 Mk2 and the run out models were well priced and spec'd - 1/2 leather seats, electric sun roof et al...

Than they launched the 400 Mk2 (eventually became the 45). The lower models didn't even have electric windows and were priced at £1000 - £2000 over the model they replaced.

Result - initially the new cars kept their value then dropped like stones. And this was the time when Rover was owned by... another German Car Manufacturer...

Wonder if this is VW's plan... I really hope NOT...

In comparison to the Mk1 you'd have to say that it is over priced, however the funny thing is the one reason its being raved about in the motoring press is because its a few grand less than its main rivals that its being tested aginst i.e GTI, VXR etc....

Non Briskodaian motoring enthusiasts seem to think its bargin of the century !!!!
