Reputable dpf & egr removal south wales area

Featured Replies

Hi all, i am looking to purchase octavia vrs in the not to distant future, the first things i want to get done are the dpf & egr removal. Can anyone recommend a reputable company in the south wales area that offer this? What sort of prices are expected? I have searched a few threads but cant seem to find anything.

How are you going to address the MOT problem?

Avon Tuning, Tockington nr Bristol

btw, You will only need to do that if you get a pre face lift mk2. The facelift mk2's with CR170 engine dont suffer like the pd170's do as the dpf is retro fitted to the pd170 unlike the dlf in the cr170

Don't worry about the MOT, there are plenty of people on here without their DPF's that have valid MOT's.

Just make sure it is done properly, opened, gutted and welded back up.

If and only if the legislation is made tougher then simply buy an aftermarket DPF for a fraction of the cost of an original one and move the car on. Someone on here had a new one fitted for £490. Until then enjoy a freer breathing, more responsive car with better fuel economy to boot.

The forum sponsor Shark are well regarded, not sure if they have any outlets in Wales though.

Thanks, i did come across them on my google search. I expect it will be the pd engine as the cr seem to be just out of my budget. As for the mot i will keep the dpf just have it gutted. I have a decat back exhaust on my ibiza currently so in theory should fail mot on the same basis, visually, as the cat or whatever filter was there isnt any longer. 4 years and never any issues with mot. I could be wrong obviously as i am by no means an expert but having read through some info that seems to be the general consensus

Would the egr delete still be worth doing on the cr engine?

I used Avon Tuning, Tockington not far from the the OLD severn bridge, in fact I think you can get to Tockington from the services junction there, double check your map.

PS.. like other have said its only required if its an older PD model, primarily pre facelift but there was a few that got through with the old engine in...

I agree with Andy, if you can afford the CR engine (introduced in 2008 on the very last pre-facelift vRS) then you'll have no issues.

If you end up going for the PD then I'd budget for a DPF removal £500. This though may then bring a CR into reach?

The EGR shouldn't be a concern on either engine unless it has been used on lots of short journey's.

I've had a PD vRS with DPF problems. In hindsight I should have paid the extra for the CR, I'd probably still have it now.
