Depending on where you get them they are around the £35 mark give or take a few pounds for a Genuine item Part Number 06D109309C. You can either pop into your local Dealership and speak to the parts Department who will be able to supply you one or a TPS if there is one near you? Failing that they are on ebay but just ensure it is a Genuine part you are buying.

I would definitely recommend replacing it if it has never had the follower replaced!

I find it a very straight forward job to do, Done 3 in total now. Probably a 30 Min job from start to finish but it takes me longer as I am usually doing other things on the car at the same time. Getting the engine cover off is probably the most difficult task, Everything else is easy enough just be gentle with everything and take your time.

Not sure if the Octavia's are the same but whatever you do DO NOT open the drivers door as on the Golf MK5 GTI and on my MK6 Golf R this primes the pump and if you have the pump in bits you will end up with fuel all over the engine bay!

This is a decent enough guide which came up by simply typing Cam Follower Replacement guide into google...

Yes I have a touch of OCD, Little things like the centre caps OH and something you can't see is that all the locking wheel nuts are located in the same position on each wheel :D Yes I know. All at the 1-O-Clock position to the Valves  :nerd:

Much prefer the mk6 over the mk7, looks stunning as usual

Spent another few hours on the car today, Something that has bugged me since buying the car was looking through the spokes on the Alloys and seeing the old stick on Wheel Balance weight residue/glue left behind.

I did remove the wheels a few weeks ago and gave them a deep clean, De-tar and wax. I also painted the Brake Calipers and hubs but I simply did not have the time to do everything I wanted to and had to refit them on the car knowing they needed to come off again to remove the glue but hey ho it keeps me out of trouble.

Quite a thankless task I have done today really but its done now and its the smaller details that make a big difference I keep telling myself LOL...

: Removed all Four wheels

: All wheels Rinsed, Washed front and back, Towel dried

: Using a Makita drill with Caramel wheel attachment to remove glue residue

: Autoglym Intensive Tar remover for an excess glue left behind

: Wheels Rinsed, Washed again and dried

: Orange spotting polish pad used with drill and Meguiars 105 Compound to clean the area

: Finished with Sonax Turbo Detailer and Microfibre

Couple of snaps from today...

Wheel, Washed, Dried. Offending glue residue...

I used a Caramel wheel with drill attachment to remove 95% of the glue, Any excess was taken care of with the Tar Remover...

After, You get lots of mess from the Caramel wheel...

Finishing touch, I had a spare Orange Spotting pad left that fitted a conventional drill from a Headlight Restoration kit I used last Year. It wasn't worth getting the D/A Polisher out for something so small but this method did the trick. Meguiars 105 Compound used...

This will be a great buy for the next owner in a couple of months :D

Seriously though, your attention to detail is phenomenal, and this truly looks one hell of a nice car.

With the added performance now available, you must be grinning like a Cheshire cat when you get behind the wheel

Enjoy

Seriously impressive work and commitment!

The result is amazing looking wheels  B)

Thank you Damo really appreciate it!

Haha, Joking aside I had a PM a few weeks ago on the Edition 38 forum regarding selling the car and could he have the first refusal. I told him yes but that the car is not going anywhere yet!

The car is now getting to a level of condition I am happy with, Really for me and when I have the time the only thing left for me to do is a give the car a machine polish which should be the icing on the cake.

Refitted all the wheels this morning after removing them a few days ago and getting all the old Wheel Balance Glue off, Gave the car its usual weekly wash/mini detail and a hoover out too, The wheels are now what I would consider 95% of the way there condition wise which I am more than happy with and I very much doubt it would be worth getting them refurbished.

Few snaps of them fitted back on the car, Now looking at and through the wheel spokes they look brand new...
