High idle

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Im having a bit of an issue with my fabia.

Its a mk2. 1.9 diesel with a shade off 100k, smooth as you like however its sometimes idles high at around 1200 but pulling the throttle back with my toe or the lightest tickle will bring it back to sub 1000rpm.

It happens on startup and coming to a stop, gradually getting worse.

Have a baby on the way so dont want to be a ithout a car.

I hope its not a big fix but does anyone have an ideas? Ive scanned it with VCDS but nothing shows.

My T5 1.9pd Transporter does the same sometimes.

No idea why, but its been doing it for a few years and hasnt progressed into anything else.

I was recently having the same problem in my 1.9 tdi  Roomster.

I took it in to the dealer and I suggested it might be the accelerator/sensor that was the problem.

I took it in for diagnosis and yes it did need a new accelerator and sensor.

They charged me £33 to diagnose the fault and £195 for the repair. It's runs fine now.

A known batch of dicky pedals, pretty easy to change.
