Who's fitted a RARB to their MK2 170 CR?

Featured Replies

Evening all.

As title suggests, I'm wanting to know what exactly fitting one does in terms of handling. Running a Shark Stage 1 and unsure of how much more I can do with the motor. In terms of power, I think the journey ends but handling, I have options I believe. Don't get me wrong, car handles pretty good but does tend to feel a bit 'floaty' when I'm giving it the beans and cornering on my ahem 'spirited' drives. Perhaps I need to improve my bloody driving who knows!!

Will it improve the handling tremendously? Thinking of going down the DPM route and bagging myself a Whiteline one.

Just hoping the initial outlay plus fitting will be worth it. Have considered dropping it also but may leave this as front splitter sits low enough as it is. Knowing me, if I did, the car would end up eating a kerb or a speed bump.

Talking of eating, just imagine if you thought after a long drive and returning home of an evening 'I'm pretty hungry I am' and then your car spoke and said 'Hungry?? I am!!?? I'm fecking ravenous!! Get me some biscuits!!!'. Now that would be scary.

Sorry, I'm not very funny really. I do try.

Opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated, not about a talking car by the way. Just off to watch Transformers.

Got one on my estate and it certainly contributes to flatter cornering compared to standard

I'd say money well spent

It already has a RARB, so you are looking to upgrade it?

Yes I am. Just wanting to know if the price vs performance is worth it as will no doubt need re aligning after fitment.

Have you looked in to the anti-lift kits as well? Apparenlty they make a positive difference.

Shouldn't need alignment after fitting a rear arb.

If the rest of the car is standard I wouldn't just fit an uprated rear anti roll bar. That's normally something you would look to do further down the line.

I have a 2.0TFSI, I have a Whiteline ARB fitted and cant recommend it enough. I also have the Powerflex handling pack fitted which includes the anti lift bushes, this together with the ARB have totally transformed the handling....In short, Id say go for it!

Hmmmmmmmm so the general consensus is that an uprated RARB alone is not a good idea?

I'd need to include an anti lift kit too?

Thought a RARB alone would do the trick. Am I wrong?

Not sure I agree. The front end tracks fine put the rear is worse than my old lard arsed Mondeo estate. I can't see the point in adding more power unless you keep the wheels were you want them in a corner.

Although mine's A TFSI, I believe the suspension set up is identical.

I've got standard suspension with an H&R RARB.

It makes a big difference to how the car corners, much flatter and you can feel the rear tyres being worked harder providing more stability.
