Battery drain

Featured Replies

Hi

My engine fan keeps spinning on and off when I lock the car.

And when I try to start the car my starter just give off a bunch of clicks, witch I guess is because low battery voltage (10,5 v)

All doors closed and car locked the car uses 0,67 A. I removed the fuse for the engine fans and it didn't really go down.

I have a brand new battery that I got today

To check the battery drain you have to lock the car and close the bonnet latch to make the car think its all locked and all the electronics shut down. If the central locking is waiting for everything to shut before it enables the alarm the current reading could be higher than normal.

Did yo make sure you did this when you checked the current drain ( presuming you were under the bonnet when you did this)

With the Octy MK2 you have to wait about 15-20mins for all the systems to shutdown before checking current draw.

You need an ammeter which will take at least a 10-20A current draw. Connect that in series with the positive or negative terminal whilst on the largest range the meter will handle, then leave the car bonnet closed, unlocked with all doors closed. Place meter on bonnet if need be and leave the car for 15 mins before checking the reduced draw.

My Audi pulls 8A after switching the car off and locking it for 30mins before it drops to 0.05A
