Loud 'clunk' under car when accelerating/braking?

Featured Replies

I've recently noticed that when I'm starting to accelerate, or when I'm braking to a stop and am at low speed, there's a loud 'clunk' noise from somewhere under the car. It seems to occur when momentum is starting to have an effect (during acceleration) or when it's no longer having an effect; you suddenly feel something shift underneath and this noise happens.

Any ideas what it could be? I'm concerned it might be something driveshaft-related!

Gearbox bottom mount, commonly called the dogbone mount I would guess.

Or the gearbox upper rear mount but you'll need to remove the battery and its housing plus the air box to get a good look at it. Mine has gone which I found once I had enough access to it.

Or it could be the exhaust.

Console bush.....

This is the rear bush for the front lower wishbone which locates said item into the aluminium console.
