someone help please Regards to toothbelt/cambelt

Featured Replies

Hi people.

I just purchased a octavia vrs tdi, and I am looking through when the toothbekt was done. I found 1 at 60k and then mainly services.... but I was looking through the book and found this.

Pictures show, can people please give me advise o what this mean? Does it mean the cambelt was done at 120.000 !! The car is sitting at 156.000

Please thanks

I'd read it that it was due at 120k, not evidence that it was done.

Thanks for the reply gaz. Yeah looking through the records it shows it was done at 62k, loads of service by skoda etc. Nothing in the book abut 1 being done at 120k, as said it's on 156k so that's 100k without a belt doing, o got it booked in tomorrow for belt. Water pump. Auxiliary belt and tensioners,

Someone has written what 150,000km is in miles (93,200 miles) then that has been changed to 120,000 miles or 4 years (whichever comes first)

If the belt was changed at 60k it should next be changed at 180k or 4 years from when it was last changed.

If in doubt change the belt, tensioner and Water pump.

The 4 year interval comes up in November, unless you reach the 180k on the mileage before then I would wait until November to change the belt.

Id get the belt etc & water pump replaced soon if the car was mine, you have just bought the car so its a keeper & the belt has covered nearly 100,000 miles & is only 9 months off its age replacement anyway so if you can afford it now then get it all replaced, far better than waiting another 24,000 miles & 9 months just because the book says you can.If the belt, water pump or ider or tensioner pulley fails then the damage to the engine will be extensive & expensive. (This is just my opinion & what i would do :D ).

Thanks guys, got it in a garage today for the work to be done. Not cheap but as said couple hundred is cheaper then couple thousand, got the cambelt water pump and auxiliary belt to be done :)

Skoda charge £350 for the cambelt and £450 for Cambelt and waterpump (always advisable to get the waterpump done as well).

Not saying get it done at a Skoda garage, just giving you a barometer to compare other garage prices. You do get a 2 year warranty with Skoda.
