hi guys, I'm looking at a skoda rapid 63 registered in December 2013 7700 miles. it's the 1.2 tsi 105 model 16v. I'm a bit confused to what engine is inside, as the EA111 is only 8 valve? if that's correct, I have read conflicting reports on the forums and maybe a bit outdated.

If it's from 2013 it will be the 8v (cam chain, not belt)

cheers strange the auto trader says the car is 4 cylinders 16 valve.

It's a brilliant engine. Very smooth, quick (for a 1200), makes more power than advertised (dyno'd stock at 114-120ps by a number of reports):

Makes nicer noises than the newer 16v too (I've driven both).

 

Downside - like all little turbo's it seems quite hard to get near the manufacturers test mpg - 45 is probably more realistic than the claimed 56.
