Strange noise octavia vrs tfsi

Featured Replies

Hi,

Bit of a strange one but have a noise I can only describe as a cracking noise ( similar to a faulty stereo speaker ) coming from the off side back of the engine bay! Heard it when I parked at 16:30 today, just been out and it's still crackling! ( 20:00!) engine is obviously off and has been since half 4.

Anyone ever had this happen or have any idea what it is? It's a 2006 tfsi vrs for info. I have used the search but to no avail.

I'm no expert mate but try dissconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few mins then reconnect see if it goes, just an idea

Help! Disconnected the battery and reconnected, cracking noise still there and now an array of warning lights are on. Esp, tyre pressure and steering wheel ( guessing power steering fluid as haven't got the manual with me ?)

Will be trying to get in to the garage this afternoon but I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts. Surely disconnecting the battery hasn't made it worse, and quite clearly it's an electrical issue as the noise went when disconnected!

Try turning the steering wheel full lock to one side, then the other. Lights should turn off.

Cheers mate. Taking the car for a short drive sorted the lights. I think the noise might be the wiper motor as they stopped working, but then after a bit of poking about they started again! Noise went but is now back!

Defo wiring, sounds like a short.

If you poked motors and it stoped, it could be that, but could be coinsidental, best to get a car sparky to look over it.

if something is going dead short, it could flatten your battery,

Thanks, to be honest I won't be entirely happy until I've found the cause of it. I have a good place nearby so will pop it in.
