What is the idea of adblue on the 2lt 190hp tdi are the engines not the same as other 2lt .

Thanks

AdBlue is a required additive that is used on the CR190 engine to ensure the NOx levels are within the EU6 emissions regulations.

The lower powered 2.0 litre engine (150PS) is able to stay within the EU6 limits without the need for the AdBlue SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system. This is done mostly with the use of EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and a lean NOx trap in the exhaust system that is usually part of the diesel particulate filter (DPF).

As the power of an engine is increased, its emissions will rise accordingly until you get to a point where additional emissions controls such as SCR are required.

Or so they say................................;)

Of course, the obligatory pinch of salt is added to all of this. Or is it a squirt of AdBlue these days.........

Does the 190 engine have the scr and dpf/egr to reduce their emissions?

Yep, It has EGR, a DPF and the AdBlue SCR for emissions control.

Approx 7,000 miles between fills. Mine has just passed 5,000 miles and is currently reporting 1,800 left on the AdBlue range before it won't start unless refilled.

Is the AdBlue tank something like 12 litres?

12 or 13 I think.

Ok. I do quite a few miles per annum so working out the best way to buy Adblue. A big bottle of the stuff in the shed with a smaller pouring bottle for filling the car sounds like the best way forward.
