New Battery

Featured Replies

Hi all, Needing a new battery and have seen on the ECP website two  in particular, Duracell DA72 which is 660cca and 72ah. And the Bosch S5 which is 750cca and 74ah.   Both 5 year warranty, Duracell is £80.99 and the Bosch is £103.99..Which would be the preferred one to go for?  Thanks guys..

Seems to be the same spec as the Bosch and it's less than £66 delivered. Thanks for that

Nothing wrong with Varta. I usually get halfords batteries with a trade card. Works out pretty good and much cheaper than retail price!

Will probably need to get one soon. My octy bongs at me quite a lot!

Personally I always go for a well knowen brand with a decent warranty.

I've used in the past a couple of places, I used to get a small discount from both places due to the volume of batterys we brought for stairlifts.

I've brought car and bike batterys for myself and friends from both.

If there was a significant difference in the ampage of the battery I'd be looking at the higher one for extra starting power.

Is it ok to put a more powerful battery on? I have just checked what battery is on the car and it's 61ah and 330cca and tbh it looks like it's the original battery..

You will be fine stepping up in ah's.

If you was adding saying additional 100ah to the circuit then you may have issues. But a relatively small increase is fine.

If these wasn't suitable for your car then they wouldn't list them for your car.

More amps, better cranking power.

You can fit what ever spec battery you want. The only limit is that it is for a 12v system.

Thanks guys.

The Varta E44 is the same battery as the Bosch S5 but most of the time a bit cheaper. I fitted one to the Scout last year. Highly recommended

Mark.

Personally the Bosch .... although having said that if I leave my car idle stood still for more than 5 days it has been known to be drained in that short time, seems normal from what I gather, battery been tested three times by different places all say battery ok so must be a draw somewhere on these Octavia's !
