Skoda Columbus

Featured Replies

This unit came to me damaged. The screen was scratched and there's a small bit of damage on the surround which you can see in the pics. There's possibly other very small imperfections round the edges

if you're going to be absolutely critical, but the worst one by far is the one shown. I can take other pictures if necessary.

It's had a brand new touchscreen fitted, had the firmware updated, has up to date maps and speed cams. it's a 2012 unit so has LED screen, 40Gb hard drive (50/25/25 triple partition structure), radio text,

and all other stuff relevant to the upgraded firmware which is now 5238. There's no DAB tuner on this one.

Due to the cosmetic condition of the unit (it was in storage apparently and the labels have discoloured rather) it's cheap for the age of it at £320 delivered or fitted if you collect.

GPS antenna if required will be a fiver.

Comes with the security code.

Item location, North Yorks area.

Hello there....will this fit into octavia mk2 2009??

Thanks in advance.

It'll fit, but it will need possibly a new fascia and will need coding to suit your cars specification.

Thanks for that. New fascia as it's chipped or.......?? I take it it's bluetooth phone  but is it specific to only certain phones etc.  Someone with good vcds knowledge can code it i assume?

Cheers

No, the fascia in your car is specific to different shapes of head unit. If you have a Columbus shape head unit already then you won't need a new one. If you have (for example) a Bolero, then the head unit is a different shape so the fascia won't fit properly and you'll need a different one. Also, there's no Bluetooth fitted to any Columbus units. Bluetooth is fitted to the car (if you have it) not part of the head unit. Anyone with VCDS should be able to code it so that it works properly with your cars features (such as MFSW, Maxidot for the st nav display, reverse parking display, etc.)

Really appreciate your guidance. But as I have the bog standard bolero without bluetooth phone I'll assume this is a non starter for me....?

If you have a Bolero without Bluetooth then you can fit this, buy and fit a new fascia, code it to work correctly, and you'll have a fully functional retrofitted Columbus sat nav. It's not plug and play because there are certain coding changes which must be made (regardless of what car it's going in and what head unit it's replacing) to ensure it works as it's supposed to. If you just fit it and expect it to work then expect to be disappointed. It'll certainly work, but it won't work as it's supposed to.

Each car and head unit combination is fairly specific and you need to make sure the head unit and car are coded as they should be so that all the available functions will work.

Okay...so it will have everything apart from phone bluetooth. Is there a way that the bluetooth can be added? Do you know what fascia i would need to get as this stuff is new to me?

Cheers

As I said, Bluetooth is fitted to the car. That's a possible retrofit and not relevant to whatever head unit you have fitted really. It's more relevant to what Bluetooth features you want, and what make / model of phone you want to connect. It's a whole different subject really, but the Bluetooth would be coded (again, note that coding is needed to make it all work correctly) to suit the car and whatever head unit you have fitted.

Cheers for that. As my head is too fuzzy with a viral infection for days please forgive me for all the questions etc. Are you in a position to code it all? If so, I'm happy to buy it and visit you or if you can't I'll contact people on here who has the knowledge and vcds to it. Hopefully i dont need to travel very far.

Someone else has just agreed to buy it and is on his way right now. If it falls through I'll let you know though.

Cheers.
