Vrs auction

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a quick heads up really for anyone after an immaculate VRS. My car was collected this morning on behalf of Skoda and will soon (?) be at British Car Auctions Newport.

2013, 14k miles Rallye Green. FMDSH. This trouble free car could be a bargain for some one and it really is a tidy car. I wouldn't have hesitated to keep the car had the PCP balloon made financial sense as the car is/was 100% reliable ( somehow I doubt it's replacement will be....).

Hope this isn't breaking forum rules, just thought somebody may be in the market for one and I no way benefit. Any loss will be skodas......

How much was your balloon if you don't mind me asking? Are you saying the car was actually worth less?

it was with our citigo Tom... skoda fell short by £1,000 when talking about trade in, and we had only done 16k in three years! car was immaculate!

so we just gave it back to them, and they sent it straight to auction. We offered it for sale on here and no-one was interested, even though it had every option, including the £900 sunroof!

Sorry for late reply, yeah car worth less now than balloon by £500-£1000 depending on dealers PXs from make to make. Skoda were about the best but only if I bought another skoda but nothing took my fancy, offered them the car as an outright purchase and they made all the right noises but then low balled me..... Decided in the end to buy something outside the dealer network so arranged to hand it back. Guy on the phone said its happening all the time now, customers can't deal with the negative equity at change time and get a better deal taking out a new PCP with minimal deposit, a vicious circle really......

It is indeed a vicious circle.

I was lucky that I managed break even when I traded my VRS in halfway through my PCP. But I suspect this was manily due to the BMW dealership giving me a sweeter than sweet trade in price to get me into the used 3 series I wanted. That and the fact I bought the VRS at just over 1 year old, not brand new.

Either way, I've never owned a car that has lost so much value in such little time than a MK2 Fabia VRS. :peek:

How long did you have the vRS for, Ally?

Leasing is a whole different game from buying a car and owning it and selling it.

Those that kept new ones 5 years might have lost £10,000, so £2,000 a year.

Buy at £15,000 & still be able to get £5,000 or just keep it.

Obviously you can lose £3,000 a year if you keep them 3 years.

Or maybe lose £4,000 a year on many cars if you keep them just 1 or 2 years, especially if they are £20,000 plus in the first place.

It is just how you chose to look at the cost of a car after you drive it away from a dealers.

Just under 2 years and just over 22000 miles.

I bought my VRS outright using a loan from the bank. Borrowed 8k pay back £8601. So not bad. Going down the PCP route seemed that it wasn't worth it. I could give the car back or pay 5k. And with £180 a month over 4 years the maths just didn't seem right. In 4 years I pay a few quid less with my loan than I would of done PCP. I get to keep my car in the end without the Baloon payment. Glad I had that option to shop about for a cheaper deal.
