Collected my Superb today

Featured Replies

Had my car delivered rather than picked up TODAY. It came all the from Preston down to rainy Kent, which spoils my day a bit since an hour after having the car a 150 Hatch L&K DSG with a couple of extras including sadly an unordered rear wiper My lovely petrol blue was more an oily brown as I had to go down a narrow country lane and it got rather muddy when I had to do. Multiple point turn in a single lane track !

Anyway a few very quick observations

S3 is no way an S2 uplift in someways if the car was not so aptly named it would have been better to call it something else. The two cars are very very different a real step change IMO.

Quality inside up more than a notch on the top of the range S2 elegance I bought in 2011.

Infotainment is potentially awesome but it is pretty confusing so far to navigate and things have a habit of getting lost . I had apple play working then could not find the option to get the iPhone screen back up again. I connects my iPhone set up favourites and these were lost later in the day and also could not hear anything even though screen should I was dialling.

My daughters jaw dropped when I turned on the TV amazing picture . No idea how getting the picture is it via DAB or via phone.

Was terrific that I could take my MDI hard drive from S2 and loaded it all into the Juke box. Took half an our or so but enough space.

Took a while to find that I had to turn on all the various ASSISTS. deco needed the blind spot monitoring as mirrors way smaller than S2 and have to say right now parking in my narrow gated driveway is taking quite a while and can't imagine the car will do A bay parking on this . Thank god for deciding to get the rear camera but very scary and not yet sure which guideline I am following and all the side alarms were going off.

On the road very different even the DSG feels different and a little confusion how drive and sport has been changed but ok once you realise.

Must say can't say anything for performance and likely never will do as I am now a comfort only driver. I do feel there is more roll than S2 but simply could be the very new luxuriously cushioned seat, but I noticed leaning over a couple of time when go round tight bends at roundabout exiting a motorway so still doing 40/50

Not tried auto parking or Adaptive cruise control yet, but like the subtle lane assist just need to realise when it will do something and when it won't!

Lastly for now can't imagine if I am ever going to have a nicer car. Apart from getting the wiper I did not order the only regret i think for now is the choice of wheels I have the standard 18 anthracite and I am guessing in 1 or 2 years the fad will be be over and silver coloured alloys will definitely be more desirable.

Looking forward to my commute on the M26/M25 tomorrow and listening to the crystal clear R5 Live on DAB, something that let the S2 down as skoda were well behind the game in not having a DAB option in 2011. Can't think of anything they ain't got this time around. Superb by name looking like it may be astonishing by nature the way it is going.

Thanks for your prompt response. Going to get one ordered ready for collecting my car next week.

Nice one. It's well worth it just to protect that big, body coloured bumper. My tools and equipment will hammer it but I imagine dogs jumping in and out would do just as much damage amongst other things.

I find the best thing to do is sit down with a cup of tea and go through the manual cover to cover. I did this a few weeks prior to collecting the car via the Skoda service app which allows you to download any Skoda manual as well as the relevant manual for whichever infotainment system you have.

The TV is received the same way as any standard DTV freeview receiver. No data connection required.

Glad you're enjoying your new car

The TV tuner is probably a DVB-T tuner. maybe usefull in UK, but absolutely rubbish in Belgium. As you will get exactly 3 channels if your lucky and get a connection at all.
