New to Skoda - Octavia vRS Estate

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not sure if the link below will work, but it is an image of the same colour and spec car I will be getting in late June/early July and I can't wait!! Even before I chose the car, it always made me look twice and I've always had time for the Octavia range.

Spec includes Bluetooth + (interested to hear if this works as my Vodafone signal can be awful driving around my region of work?), Canton sound system, electric boot, heated front seats, parking sensors (all round), black design package plus and heated/folding wing mirrors. Main option I wish I had pushed (bizarrely lease company said I couldn't have it) was the heated screen.

Haven't test driven one, but having had an array of VAG cars inc. an 09 A4 S Line avant, SEAT Ibiza FR and a 12 plate Passat Sport (current car) estate, I can't see it being bad!

Was also considering the Mazda 6 sport nav tourer (175bhp) or VW Passat GT (150bhp) as alternatives, but the engine in the main plus the viable options (in terms of lease budget) made me sway with the Skoda. I also prefer the more aggressive (IMO) looks and stance of the vRS against the said other options.

Only downside I've noted so far is the fake exhaust outlet (had to be an oil burner as its a company car) - was a surprise to see that. But I'll get over it!

Cheers,

M

Interesting as I had the same dilemma and went in the end for the Mazda. The 6 is similar in so many ways to the Octavia vRS. Mine is an auto too and the CO2 was identical. Though I would have had to tick many of option boxes on the vRS against the standard spec on the Sport Nav, on balance I think I ought to have gone for the Skoda as the VAG DNA would provide for a more pleasant ownership experience. So good choice

It's a great looking car Prepus and standard spec is better than the vRS - couldn't get leather and few other options on mine, even though P11D was above the Mazda. Heads up display looked great too - was easily my next choice before the Passat GT. Also it has 2 functioning exhaust pipes on the back - a little disappointed with Skoda on the fake outlet on the vRS!
