Octavia vRS rust just above license plate

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

new member here, bought my first Octavia vRS estate four months back and have only just happened to notice some rust/corrosion on the tailgate just above the license plate. The car is only 3 years old so surely shouldn’t have rust already! I’m leaning towards a repair job repainted poorly. I have taken it back to the dealer where they said they want to do paint depth checks to send off to the warranty company. Has anyone else had anything similar? Surely this would be covered under the 12 year rust protection warranty SKODAs have?

give me a shout!

JB

Hello JB 👋

If you have a search on this forum, you'll find quite a number of posts relating to tailgate rust.  My 2015 vRS, which I bought new, went back for tailgate rust when it was but a few months old.  Even that young, Skoda initially didn't accept the claim.  But to be fair, it was subsequently dealt with without further ado.

Boot lids are very expensive, so I would certainly pursue it as far as you can.
