Brand New Skoda Octavia Vrs ( DSG) Warning light

Featured Replies

I've had my new car for over a week now. When braking I am seeing a warning light flash up on the virtual display its red with a brake icon and crash explosion symbol anyone else seen this?

It only starting happening today once coming to a stop at a roundabout slowing down from a 30mph speed limit with 1 car in front and the other time slowing down going round a bend with no cars in front.

It is displayed in the left side of the display?

I would say it is Front Assist.

Yes thats the one thanks :)

@iphammer not sure if yours has the choice, but in infotainment, go into car, settings, and find the safety systems and can usually change sensitivity.

If it is on least sensitive (and coming on regularly) then you probably need to visit an optician, and not brake so late as it is seeing hazards well before you see them.

To be fair with Front Assist, sometimes it can be a bit "stupid". Way over sensitive on my 63 plate Octavia from first day out of the garage, took months before I could work out what it was as the warning light wasn't in the original manual and the garage didn't know what it was either. It still comes on at odd times on current Octavia, especially on windy roads. It seems to detect cars on the other side of the road and assume that a head on crash is imminent!

Well, that's an understatement. There are cases of it treating a wind-blown crisp packet as a potential collision and panicking!

I have this too, and I suppose we all do. I wonder if I will ever trust this car enough to want to keep it for as long as I have kept previous cars.

And when I talk to friends with recent Mazdas, Kias, Hyundais, etc they get none of the issues I get with over-sensitive Front Assist, Lane Assist, AEB, etc.

I wonder if VAG can really be that bad, or if it is the difference between Asian and European manufacturers?

They all, I suppose, must conform to European regulations with cars for the European markets but perhaps here in Australia they can use different settings?
