Was my car built after week 22?

Featured Replies

Hi lovely people,

I ordered an ex-test drive car with 10,000 miles on the clock last week, very excited to get my hands on the new Fabia!

But I'm now worried after reading on here about issues with smartlink and whether or not mine will have it- reg is Gd15 with first registration date being 1st June 2015. Does anyone know if reg and built date are the same? And if this is likely to have smartlink or just mirror link?

Don't want to get my hopes up!

Happy Saturday!

It's likely to have been built prior to week 22 I'm afraid.

Mine was registered new on 30/6/15 and I took delivery of it on that date too, however it was built in April 2015 which means it only has Mirrorlink not Android Auto.

If your car was built after week 22 then it must've been airlifted straight to the dealer to be registered on 1/6/15 as it takes at least a month to be shipped after manufacture !!!

Thanks for the quick reply! That's annoying - are you still able to use the mirror link functions OK? What's it like?

Can i ask, are you to be the 2nd or 3rd registered keeper?

is the car an Ex Demonstrator, or a first registered to Skoda UK and a 'Management Car'. ?

10,000 miles is a lot really if it was a 'test car', and i would want to know its history.

So ask when Built, and is it having a Service before you collect it?

A lot of those G prefix skoda uk cars are rental cars.

As long as it was cheap its ok.

You can get a new one with discount and 0% finance for not much more.

G prefix Rapid spaceback came flying past me on the M5 into Bristol last night. Fastest car on the road like all hire cars. ..lol

I think it may also have been used by someone working at head office so it's coming from Milton Keynes. I guess that would make me the second registered keeper.

I went for a year old car to get a decent discount from new and do get free servicing for three years (and before I collect it as well) so hoping it should all be alright!

I think there's only about 4-5 phones that are compatible and if you do manage to find one, the don't work that well and you have to buy the Sygic satnav app which is not very good by all accounts.

They do not have hundreds of people from Head Office driving Fabia and other Skoda Models sold used after covering several thousand miles.

They did register lots of Fleet cars that were leased out so to get the Numbers looking good in the first 6 months of releasing the new model

while private buyers were waiting for orders.

It  really does not matter as a used car is a used car, but people need to realise that 1 Registered Keeper can be dozens of drivers,

especially if the Lease was to a Driving School or Car Hire Company.

Thanks for this, definitely going to enquire as to the proper history of the car before I finally accept the deal! You're spot on though, guess car salesmen are worth their reputation!

Thank you all for your quick replies and advice. Spoke to the business manager at my local dealer who has agreed to try and find a post week 22 build car instead on the same finance plan I originally had. Fingers crossed! (And I still have 6 days left of the cooling off period to withdraw if need be)

For £500 they could chuck in the retrofit garmin sat navigation.

Its a dealer approved accessory, they fit a small black box to give the radio full sat nav.

I'd rather have that tbh.

Have you got it fitted? Do you reckon that's worth the £500? Cheers!

Get the dealer to chuck it in free or contribute.

Some people have it on here, there are you tube vids also, search 'skoda kenwood navigation'.

Looks pretty good, cheaper than a factory fit nav.

'Skoda Kenwood Navigation' £599 fully fitted at Skoda dealers

Many thanks for your help. Managed to get the dealer to install the Kenwood at a reduced fee as part of compensation for mis-selling the car with no smartlink. Will let you know what the Kenwood is like!

Excellent, good result.
