Fabia vRS 04.

Featured Replies

Hello I'll start with a little bit about me as im completely new to the Skoda forum, my name is Daniel and i have been messing around with old cars for a while now I currently own a 1975 Mini Clubman and I also now own a slightly newer 04 Skoda Fabia. I really just want some sound advise about my Skoda, So my question is I work for Cummins a massive diesel engine manufacture and some of the technicians at work offer really good Remaps, and the gains I could possibly get seem well worth the price I have been quoted, i trust the guys at work as they work with Diesels all the time and they have done remaps on most of the peoples cars at work. My problem is I'm not sure my brakes are up to even an MOT standard so im thinking i would upgrade them before i start thinking about remaps. Am i better off getting 2nd hand bigger Octavia brakes or something like this http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/675565/skoda/black-diamond-front-12-grooved-brake-discs/kbd875g12.html? Normally i would just go for the Octavia brakes but i don't really want have to change to the bigger alloys. Sorry if this has already been asked in the past. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Just fit uprated pads, and new discs, on the front, and make sure the rears work ok ( they get very little use, so seized calipers can happen ) Discs are cheap enough nowadays...Your main problem will be the silly dmf clutch, and of course the soggy suspension....

Ye thats what i was thinking ive been surprised how quick the Fabia is to be honest and how cheap parts are im used to buying Mini parts and they are really expensive so thats been a pleasant surprise. Do you have any recommendations on where to buy the uprated parts? I'm out of the loop on when it comes to buying newer car parts. Thanks for your quick response.

Personally, i would just drive the car for a couple of months, then decide which bits need upgrading to suit your driving style. It it too easy to spend money on these things, and end up in a money pit. They are a fun car 'out of the box' I wouldn't go overboard tbh.

Ye i get what you mean but i know the brakes will not pass an MOT so they will need changing anyways so im thinking if im gonna need to do it anyways i might aswell improve them. Thanks for you help.

:o you have the same name as me!

312 mm brakes off octy Vrs mk1/ TT/ Leon mk1 is what I put on my Mrs mk4 Ibiza, made a nice difference. You'll need carriers and discs as calipers are the same and discs are 5x100

Gonna fit the same to her mk5 Ibiza when the OE ones are shot

Edit the 312's fit behind 16's albeit its tight and her car was mapped

Good advice.

I've come from a Honda Integra DC5 and it's the same debate over there as it is here.

Bigger discs really aren't necessary unless you're tracking the car. The pedal feel on the Fabia, and I have the same car as you is actually better than my old DC5 and that had Brembo calipers.

In the end I opted for some improved braided lines, Hawk performance HP+ pads (sadly they don't do these for the Fabia) but there are alternatives.

I will eventually go for some Pagid black or Pagid blue on mine. Keep the OEM discs and then stick some better fluid in such as RBF600 Motul. Should help considerably with the stopping power.

Some great info in here.

I too just bought a 04 furby vrs.

Hopefully arrives with the car transporter next week sometime.

I'm currently stuck with suspension choices?

Narrowed down to the following

25mm APR suspension kit or Koni STR.

But don't like the idea of H&R springs

Whiteline ARB

Powerflex bushes

Darkside front mount intercooler

Piper catless downpipe
