Automatic boot opening

Featured Replies

I've discovered the boot opening facility on my Fabia today by keeping the boot opener on the key fob depressed for a couple of seconds.

I've seen cars where the hatch flips wide open with the use of springs on the hydraulic struts.

Has anyone here fitted these to their Mk3 Fabia?

Don't feel the need, really. I see Ford have a foot-operated sensor under the rear bumber of some of their models, which opens the boot. Presumably you also need the key/sender to be in the operating range too, for obvious reasons.

I discovered that trick with myS4, although it does not have any "enhanced boot opening bits" - the boot just gets lifted half open by the action of the springs. I'll need to try hold the hatch button for longer on the Polo to see what happens!  Audi and I think VW offer that boot/hatch opening thing that is described above, but only if the advanced key has been specified.
