bi-xenon headlights self levelling (dancing) at start up

Featured Replies

(treat me gently, I'm a newbie awaiting delivery)

I shall park facing my house, on my driveway which slopes away from the house (2' drop in 32').

Will the self levelling brain think I am weighed down at the rear (the car, not me!) and thus set the lights pointing too low on a level road when unladen?

Hi,

As I understand it self levelling of the headlights only adjusts to the attitude of the car compared to the road surface, so they will not adjust if going up or down a hill.

However they should continously adjust e.g. for the 'nose up' attitude when hard accellerating or 'nose down' when hard braking.

They do this by monitoring/comparing the height of the front and rear suspension.

gratefully reassured, thank you.

I took my new (to me) Yeti out at night just to watch the self adjusting

lights working on the unlit sections of road, brilliant!

When I was choosing a car 4 years ago , Xenon headlamps was an important feature I wanted.

Most makes only provided them as an option on the high powered models ( e.g. VW Golfs)

Except for Skoda and the Yeti - agree they are great especially for older eyes!

The beam levelling works off the suspension height,  your driveway shouldn't be a problem.
