2012 Skoda Octavia 4x4 Cruise Control Retrofit?

Featured Replies

Hi,

my 2012 Octavia 4x4 came well specified, with Sat Nav and Bluetooth etc. but there was no cruise control, which is driving me dotty, especially on the stretches of extra long motorway roadworks that are limited to 50 mph - grrrr!

Previously I retrofitted cruise control to Audi S4 and A3 models, with great success but I'm struggling to find the right part / kit for my 2.0 TDI 4x4. Has anyone successfully retrofitted cruise control to this model? Indeed, has anyone actually seen a factory fit cruise control on a 2012 Octavia 4x4?

A kit was ordered from the local Skoda dealer; whilst it fitted the vehicle, there was no combination of coding that would enable cruise control.

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips...

I have done several

if the parts fit then it needs to be coded, don't waste your time at the dealer find someone with vcds to code the ECU and steering controller

Hi Eddie,

thanks for confirming that cruise control is possible for a 2012 4x4 retrofit.

The coding appears to be the main problem, neither the dealer or the local retrofit specialist know which codes will work for this model. (At one stage the horn stopped working... ). What is the best way to find the coding for the retrofit?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good retro-fitter, in the North of England (Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield) or the Stevenage/Herts areas?

Thanks again

If you can get across to Whitby, I'm sure Mikeholroyd would be able to help. I hope he doesn't mind me dropping his name. Otherwise, there is a VCDS owners map in the VCDS forum. I'm sure there will be someone in your region.

PS, as someone from Newcastle, Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield isn't North :D hehe

Thanks - I'll ping Mike a note.

When the weather is more forgiving, we pop up to Whitby 3 or 4 times a year (been once this year already, for fish and chips from the Magpie), so there's a good chance of bumping into Mike if he can help.

My grandparents lived in Jesmond, so you're from the place that I spent most of my summer holidays  :D

Small World! Jesmond is only as mile or two from me.  I was in Heaton until I left the nest last year and moved to Wallsend.

I had CC retrofitted to my 2010 FL Octavia 2 1.8TSI 4X4 Estate by Shark in 2011. TPS initially supplied the wrong (ie single)) CC stalk but when the correct (ie double) one was identified it was straightforward to install and code.

Hi Denis,

thanks very much for following up my query about CC on the 4x4. Is Shark local to you? I'm in the Herts/Cambs area most weeks.

Cheers

If you're ever around Cambridge I'm happy to do the coding for you. It's pretty simple :-)

Shark Performance is based in Mansfield so it was a day trip out for me.

Thanks Denis - I have sent a note to Shark...

Send Tech1e a message, I think he can be helpful with C.C.'s .

Ali at Unit 18 Automotive in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, is also worth a try. He services my wife's 2007 Fabia vRS.
