p1296 2005 vrs after remap

Featured Replies

Hi all

Sorry my first post is for advice- My vrs is skinting me and its really my fault. I have a 2005 vrs I bought last November with a FSH and almost 90% Skoda with 108k. The car was running pretty good but didn't feel very fast for  180bhp so I decide to have it mapped. There is gentleman at work who has mapped loads of cars so I thought no problem lets go for it.  The car seemed fast but very surgey next day it gave fault code p1296 error in mapped cooling system so I took the car to a local garage who service VAG cars and run them. His response was it will be the CTS sensor so he replaced it with a genuine one and cleared the fault. two days later the light was back on so they replaced the thermostat and said if it happens again it must be your map. It did I went back to the guy who mapped it who said there is nothing wrong with the map so I have now arranged the car to go to R tech for another map as I don't were to go from here.

The mods the car has is a forge 008 with the yellow spring fitted and a ram air ind kit- both items are almost brand new

Any thoughts please a few guys on a seat forum have said there is software fault what only comes to light after a remap I hope this is the case

Ta in advance

IIRC the code that came with some maps was 17705 which relates to the DV.
