Does anyone know where I can get the boot springs to enable the boot to open by itself? I've found a link to some that other people have used but they're either sold out or currently unavailable.

Someone tried it on a MK1 Fabia a while back.

They unscrew. You need to hold the shaft close to where it unscrews so it doesn't damage the seal.

I used a rag to cover the strut then used a locking pliers to hold it from spinning, thank god didn't damage or even mark it, the first time undoing the top was tight.

As the strut doesn't close fully (or you wouldn't have room for the spring!) You can grab the very top o the strut with a pair of pliers without having to worry about it, grip it tight and then un-screw the top and it will come off.

Other half didn't like closing the boot with them on, said it was too hard at the bottom. I didn't mind but I know my place and the pram is normally in my boot so it was only fair.
