Righty ho, lets get this show on the road...

Vote and discuss on which days you would prefer...either driving round the track, watching or at the nearest pub fire.

AFAIK its about 75 or 95 for the day (advanced or on the day price) and if memory / rumour is true, then if spaces are still going they drop to 25 quid for an afternoon only session. ~ Might be myth though.

Each date is a Sunday.

Colin, the price for the afternoon seems to be what you can haggle it to. Last time some paid

9th or 16th of Feb for me as I'm involved in a w2k rollout that is going to take up most of my weekends in Jan.

16th? Ah, a nice valentines pressie for the wife

or possibly that should be the soon to be ex-wife if I carry on like this! What with 3 or 4 UK track days, 5 ring trips and being talked into going Stage Rallying witha young lady, all this year, I think I'm heading for a divorce. Ho hum, so long as I get custody of the RS I'll be OK

Hi Paul, I'll have a look at the site later. Yep, I should be doing 6 rounds of the BTRDA.

This year I will be mainly co-driving for a "novice" (she did her first tarmac stage rally on Sunday :D ) but she has entered a 10 round championship (all forest), best 6 results to count, so as its her first season she's only going to do 6. I'll also be helping out with getting the car setup so that it is actually driveable (just one or 2 slight flaws in the handling at the mo :D ) and giving some guidance on how to actually drive it, especially on the loose.

Tavia,

BTRDA is the championship to do IMHO. Im also an organiser of one of the rounds - the Dukeries on 23rd June so may be a little biased. What car is it and what engine size?

If shes only intending to do 6, I would start early and leave yourself the last 2 rallies in reserve case something goes tits up on one of the 6 and you only have 5 results to count.. when you might want to do another round to get those 6 finishes... if you see what I mean.

Paul..

Ill follow the masses.{iF THE F**KIN CAR IS SORTED}

STEVE

Paul,

we are doing a championship which uses all 10 rounds of the BTRDA, can't for the life of me remember what its called, but its arranged by Pul of PB motorsport and is for cars over 10 years old, 1600 or under. The car she has is a 205 GTI, 1.6. Still needs a little work done on it and we should be doing a test day fairly shortly.

Like the website

Agree about how to do the rounds, although she's not too worried about where she finishes in the championship, doing it more for fun that for outright wins. This year is very much a learning year for us, her on the driving, me on the co-driving (haven't done a stage rally for at least 15 years :( ) so I need to try and remember what to do and when

Next year I may well compete as a driver, its more my thing. Just trying to sort out what car to use.

Jon

Well Jon whatever you decide to drive make sure its got a nice strong sump gaurd.

LOL @ Baheed

Jon,

Thats fair enough. I heard about that championship too. Its using Yoko control tyres isnt it?

The reason I asked was that the 1400 championship runners get to run at the front of the event with *much* better surface than at the back. Even if its only for fun, the 1400cc championship would be the one Id have entered - even dropping an XSi lump in the car to drop capacity. Makes much more sense.

What rounds are you planning on doing? If youre looking at a car yourself, Id strongly suggest a 1400 or 1600 Nova or 205 or similar.

Paul..

Paul,

yep I'm looking for either an AX GT or 1.4 Nova. AX would be better, better power to weight and cheaper bits, in the (un)likely event that it gets bent!

Joined the BTRDA today and registered for the championship. Blimey its cheap! :D

Just found out she is doing the coordsport championship.

Im obviously biased towards a Nova but theres more of them out there competing for a reason...

The AX is a light car but Id personally not fancy my chances in one in the case of an off. What makes you say the AX has cheaper bits? In terms of competition parts Id say the Nova would be cheaper to build / buy as you can pick up second hand parts... The Nova does tend to be better handling for less money - chuck new bushes and a set of bilsteins coilover fronts and dampers rear and she handles well.

Mike Bennett at GMM motorsport (http://www.gmmmotorsport.co.uk/) has experience of running novas, axs, skodas and 205s so he may be a man to speak to..

What sort of costs are involved for a years activity?

Ignoring the costs ofthe motor in the first place...rough would do or pm me if you don't want it in the public eye.

I am asking making a perhaps naieve assumption that drivers/co could not be swapped around...but just thinking out aloud.

Mosre asking out of casual intrest than a firm plan of action.

Not cheap!

Buy the car, say a Nova or AX, dunno

So at least 10k per anum then...considering the off's I would have :D

umm intresting all the same, many thanks Jon.

Tavia... It will work out far cheaper to buy a preprepped car. trust me, been there done that with the build and its more expensive.

Colin, decent (ie reliable) spec 1400 Nova will be around

So, is this trackday going to happen then?

Who's going?

Has anyone booked/paid yet?

And do i need to take my arai!!!!!!!

Steve
