Question auto-dimming rear view mirror

Featured Replies

Just ordered a vRS. I'm wondering if the auto-dimming rear view mirror comes as standard on the vrs.

I have also ordered leather and electric seats, which includes auto-dimming driver's door mirror, but it would be odd if I had that but not the rear view mirror auto-dimming.

The most recent brochure suggests that I would get it if I ordered Intelligent Light Assistant with High beam control but I wouldn't need to order that personally speaking if the auto dim rear view mirror was already on my car.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Was certainly standard on MY15 cars (as it is on mine) - not sure about current MY16 but can't imagine its changed

But I can see the lack of clarity in the current brochure but looking back at the brochure effective at the same time as mine, it wasn't clear back then either - thus i would be pretty confident in the auto dimming rear view being still standard.

Also to have Lane Assist which is defo standard on VRS you seem to need the 'facilities' i.e. cameras (even if not activated) to be able to have intelligent light assistant - hence it would appear why other models without Lane Assist as standard need the intelligent light assist pack also. (BTW Intelligent light assist is able to be activated by someone with VCDS on your VRS).

Congrats on the order BTW - hope the wait isn't too long.

Thanks - that's useful. I'm digging in for the 16 week wait I've been quoted though I know that's subject to change!

Found this photo - certainly looks like an auto dim rear view mirror from Car Magazine

Hmmm... My vRS doesn't have lane assist, apparently, but it does have the cameras (for instance ACC) and intelligent light assistant. What is the dependency to have Lane Assist?

If it seems to be only a software thing, I might try to get it enabled, but I am not sure if I miss cameras/sensors.

From a visual inspection, I only got sensors at the rear and no sensors at the front (except for the ACC camera on the grid)

Ahh... sorry we're talking UK spec it is standard - must be different base spec in Finland. If you have light assist you should have cameras in the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror (hence part of the rear view mirror pack) - do you have dimming rear view mirror. Lane assist maybe available to activate (although there might be other sensors on the steering missing etc) but I wouldn't be that bothered or try to do it yourself as it needs to be set up and calibrated.

Hopefully sooner - our scout came a few weeks before, I think it often tends on the ships from Emden and also transporters this side.

The picture is from a very early model as the steering wheel you should get, should have a flat bottom and is not fully round.

Yes it needs a dimming rear view mirror to drive the dimming exterior mirrors so dont worry.

I am sure whatever the market the vRS comes with light assistant and auto dimming rear mirror anyway...just in the UK we get Lane Assist too.

Jan 2016 brochure has it as a factory option Page 31, Driver Assisitance, £310.

But as we know it could be wrong.

Yes but you need Lane Assist to get Light Assist (and dimming Rear view mirror) - just on the VRS the light assist isn't activated for commercial/marketing reasons against the L&KI guess !

Our scout has dimming rear view mirror and this is mentioned in the main Scout blurb on Technology in Jan 16 brochure but the options are exactly the same as the VRS in this respect - so confident it will be there.

Standard on my MY16 VRS.
