That explains it then, on later revisions of the engine the DV was solenoid controlled, I take it yours is just tapped off straight from the inlet manifold

Follow the pipework, if it goes straight to the manifold its not solenoid controlled, if it goes to a solenoid it will be controlled via N249 

 

If you have a SAI pump then its probably not solenoid controlled. I'm not sure if they were all like that on the Octy. I know in the TT there was the older engine with SAI and the later one which I had did not have the SAI pump and also had variable valve timing and a few other bits on it and i presume this is when they added the N249 aswell

maybe that makes some difference.... maybe they were different specs sold in different countries.... the mark I vRS in India was 150bhp for example to cope with the fuel....

aah okeej where on the intake manifold is it connected i guess maybe thats why it works better on your car
