I can't see past richer sounds for my electrical stuff, they charge an extra 10 percent for a 5 year warranty which I have had to use in the past and was first class. I have always their advice from the more experienced assistants to be totally unbiased. Just my tuppence worth.

The assistants are pot luck; I have had really good ones, and one pair of really bad ones (at the Birmingham branch), who tried to diss the TV I wanted just because they didnt have it in stock.

I'd use them for the price and then price match at John Lewis who give you the five year warranty for free so cheaper overall. :)

Richer Sounds include a Free 6 year guarantee on their TV's ;)

Yes they do at present but I believe that is a recent thing and not had it confirmed if it is a permanent thing as yet.

The tv's are the only items with the free warranty which is why I'm still trying to confirm if it will be a permanent thing. I just paid £30-odd for the warranty on my new Yamaha AV Receiver from them last week.

6 year warranty on TV's been going for at least a year now, so reckon its a permanent thing.

If you got a 6 year super warranty for your AV amp, keep the receipt, you can get your money refunded at the end of warranty if you don't claim. I had the old 5 year warranty with them on a Panny TV and got my £80 refunded last year after ended. :)

Yep I got the money back after the warranty had finished on my last AV Receiver.

They do, but on a like for like basis with other suppliers, you can often find the TV cheaper elsewhere. The only problem is that where you can find it cheaper it just has the standard 1 year warranty. You'll also note on the Richer Sounds web site that they will price match, but it must include the same level of warranty/guarantee (therefore in this particular case they won't). So whilst it may feel like being free, in reality you are actually paying for it. This pains me a little as I have always like Richer Sounds, but I just feel a little cheated over this. Probably just me though.

Buying a new TV is a minefield, I have just start searching for a new one and to be honest I do not know which way to go. I was quite interested in a Sony until I went away and read a whole load of reviews. What I find really confusing is that most manufacturers have multiple examples with just slight spec changes which can often results in several hundred of pounds in price differential. So as an ordinary person how are you supposed to know which is best? However, I will give that AV site a go though for additional help.

In that case then use John Lewis to price match, as they don't need the warranty to be the same as theirs, and get their five year warranty for free.
