Diy Induction Kit

Featured Replies

I am going to make a induction kit for my vRS and would like some pics for ideas.

I am thinking on the line of a normal cone filter in the location of the standard air box but enclosed in a stainless steel or carbon enclosure with a cold air feed from the grilles in the bumper.

I did see a pic of a Neuspeed kit but IIRC it was for a Golf and the heat shield did not seal to the underside of the bonnet.

Any help would be great.

Yes i could buy one but where's the fun in that:D

Drill a hole in the bonnet, and stick a lenth of drain pipe up for the cold-air feed. Can't get more unique than that... :D

Just remove the headlamp! Who need slights anyway?

Oh yeah, sorry, we live in the uk! What am I thinking! :p

Didn't SpeedyG (not sure) send some pics of his DIY CAI....used some plumbing parts..........try a search.........sorry not much help.

Colin D and Paul Ffelan have both done this - there are pics of Paul's somewhere I think ...

It is actually legal to drive without headlights in the UK...

Yep, Paul and I both have the Neuspeed kit.

Fit is not perfect, but it's not a CAI!

Improved greatly with a square of heatshield padding sticky on one side.

The KVT!

Kitchen Venting Technology bit for me is two bits of 50mm pipe connectors (B&Q) in the lower front left grill (note mine is plastic easier to work thant the RS) with a liberal quantity of gaffa tape attaching a bit of kitchen ducting (flex pipe) that feeds forced cold air up to the filter area. At some point I will form some stainless steel to seal the area a bit better. But after a long run the filter area felt quite cool.

I'll take some pics when I get a camera.

For reference the neuspeed kit is alot of pennies for what it is. Given that it'sbloody easy to fit and saves alot of messing about with the air pump filter aswell....which sounds great from cold :D

17"s, induction kit, you'll be spotted at cruises next with neons!

;)

There seem to be conflicting sentiments in this bit - do I read it as "not cheap but worth it", or "good value and easy to fit" ?

Suppliers?

It is conflicting...When you get all the bits out and start fitting you think, crikes this is alot of cash for what your getting, bit of bent metal and 2 filters...

But when it's all on and you think, okay time to make a suitable bracket myself, source connectors and so on it sort of seems like good value. Life is short and all that! Then add the fun of the evening doing the KVT, a CAI is just as good value in that respect I guess.

Supplier is Awesome-Gti.

Merci bien monsieur. And welcome back from hols btw.

Im sure one of the Seat sites has a group of people that have DIY induction ... can't find it at the moment but will post link if I find it.

hmmm... is this the fabled SPT....**** pipe technology?

 Just had a look at the site and it's brilliant! I'm off now to B&Q to buy some tumble dryer vent pipe for the job. :)

Indeed - a fine example of British engineering ingenuity!!

Pitty B&Q close early:(

I have seen a Saxo with a rollcage made out of waste pipe painted silver at a show. Might have been made by the same people.

Well i have a test filter. Cost me

I have just fitted a new toilet at home using a flexible push on waste pipe, is this true **** pipe technology, it was 3" bore so, free flowing.... I Hoppe
