Running In

Recommended Posts

Skoda and most manufacturers suggest gentle / normal running in. Equally mechanics have told me for a modern TD engine an Italian style of driving during running in prevents bores from glazing, which is a major cause of oil usage in new cars....

What did folks here do?

Given that there is nothing in the manual or otherwise to indicate that a running in period is required, and that the engines are fully warrantied, why not?

And anyway it's not like these god awful diesel engines are the sort of thing you want to redline.
