Calliper wind back tool

Featured Replies

Going to put new rear pads on my Yeti 110SE and would like to know if anybody can recommend a wind back tool for the rear Pistons as there seems to be a lot of junk being sold on eBay?

Would like to purchase something that is not made of plastic steel which will fold up if I need to apply a lot of pressure to get the Pistons back in again.

will one tool do both sides or is there left and right handed threads as have not taken them out on the rear for 70,000 miles.

2011 front drive model.

I got mine from GSF Carparts, one tool for both sides.

They have a 43% discount this weekend, use code EASTER43

I think this the one I have: http://www.gsfcarparts.com/987aa1000

Make sure you don't pull the handbrake after changing the brake pads until you have pumped the brake pedal a few times to get the pads/discs merred up properly, then handbrake will self-adjust.

Thanks Urrell and delitfol

Found the Laser on Amazon for £20.00 and free postage. Laser model 5751 which is adjustable and has LH thread plus RH thread which could be useful on my van when it comes to changing the pads.

Only worry with this Laser model is the pins will probably not be as secure as a pre set back plate Laser that you suggested for the Yeti. Will wait and see Urrell.

Have got away for so many years with a record G clamp and a small block of hardwood shaped to push normal pistons back in to my motorbikes callipers. No handbrake on my motorbikes.

Thanks for the advice on not touching the handbrake until the pads are correctly seated in with the footbrake. Will also check on DOT 4 brake fluid level in the reservoir. Just the job for a wet and windy Easter!
