MY week 33 2010 Encryted?

Recommended Posts

I have just bought a MK 2 FL1.8tsi with a build date of week 33 2010. It is a 10 reg.

I am considering remapping but as the build is around the beginning of the use of encryption of the ECU so I am unsure which one to go for.

Is there any quick way of finding out whether the ECU is encrypted?

As far as I am aware, you can self remap unencrypted ecu's off the shelf.

But if ECU is encrypted it needs to be removed and map applied in a workshop??

But I stand to be corrected by the knowledge that is the forum  :notme:

According to the bluefin site, my car, MY up to sep 2010 ( Mine MY week 33 2010) can use  the bluefin self programmer to program the unencrypted ECU,

I like this idea as you can put it on or take off as you please.

But I'm sceptical as I have done some searching on this site and it seems a possibility that my ECU may be encrypted and thus I wouldnt be able to use the bluefin as advertised, but would need a visit to decrypt the ECU first.
