Oooooohhhhh........

Featured Replies

On a morning like this (-4 C in Luton this morning). You can forget chips, big brakes and sports exhausts.

Just give me my heated seats! Especially after what the chiropracter did to me yesterday.....

Phil

Oh yes, you can forget chips, brakes etc, but I love having 4wd even more! :D

Humph! Just wait 'til you get to my age, you whippersnapper! I'm afraid 15 years in field support, hauling huge bags of kit around, followed by 5 years at a desk, has left me with a knackered back, so I'm forced to pay (since the NHS think anyone with a bad back is swinging the lead) a man to jump up and down on various bits of me to get 'em all working again.

Mind you, 4wd would probably be nice, too!

I think I need a 4X4 L&K RS estate next time around....

Phil

Know what you mean, used to do field support myself, just got out quicker I guess, still lift things I know I shouldn't (those damn laser printers especially) - I'll pay for it one day.

Whippersnapper? Cool, I wish! I turn 27 this year!

Apparently, the damage was done by carrying a 20lb toolikit, when I used to work in London. The offset load is bad for you!

27? Just wait 'til you get past 40, and it all starts dropping off!

Phil

Try lugging 2KvA UPS's around and MT Line printers.

My back is still sound. Must be my technique or the nice firm seats in the vRS.

Heated seats are the business in this weather!... heated mirrors however are bloody expensive -

When I get a break from this moderating lark, I was going to sit down with JHM Butt's catalogue and see how much of an Octavia I could build with parts not exceeding what I paid for my car. Perhaps Colin could take the site down for a while so that I can get on with that ... but don't do it until I'm back from taking the dog (nearly typed doh!) for a walk!

I used to! Merlin Gerin 2200 and MT 490 and 600 series! Probably part of the trouble.....

Apparently, my height, at 6ft 3, doesn't help. I'm told that, if I didn't have big feet, I'd suffer even more! I knew these size 12's must be of some use.........

Phil

I have enough problems shifting the little APS units we run!

(in danger of going techie again here, aren't we? )

Ian

Don't you mean APC

He probarly does, i just refuse to carry anything over a 1400 without a trolley! a 2200 is small but still heavy let alone the beast i installed yesterday 8 what can best be described to the layman as car batteries (and there strapped 2 at a time). the suspended floor started bowing.

yes yes, APC... mutter mutter.

Wonder if the inverter in those things could be used in the car? Hmmmmm :D

no a 700apc runs off 24V, thought of that one.

do what i did got to maplins and buy a small inverter for 12 v,, my 500W inverter dravs 40AMPS at apx 350W load which would flatten a car battery in about 1.5 hours (depending on charge)

its okay for short occasional use though like running a drill when moding the car!!!!

I do have a mate who sells second hand UPS's, if anyone wants one. Useful for all kinds of stuff.

Hang on <HEAVE!!!> just drag this thread roughly back on topic...

Octavia seats are not at all bad, from my experience. Not quite Volvo standard (but what is?), but I can do an eight hour driving day, and still walk straight aftewards!

100% agreement my old 740 seats were the dogs doohdahs. but i still drive to glasgow non stop (600 miles ish) and get out feeling fine.

when i say non-stop i do have to stop for wee wee, but being a TDi not for petrol/diesel
