Intake manifold failed again after 18 months

Featured Replies

Had what seems to be a common issue on the intake manifold around 18 months ago and had it replaced.  However, the damn thing seems to need replacing again - dealer investigation found the movement of the flaps to be very 'notchy' and not operating well causing the fault code.  Same issue as last time

.  I've done quite a few miles over 18 months, around 25,000 mostly motorway crusing, but this would seem to be far too early for it to fail again?

Same dealer has the car that replaced the part previously - do I need to complain or expect it to go that early again?

Could be carbon buildup up causing them to catch, which will only get worse over time.  What car is it? Petrol TSI I'm guessing?  If so don't order the part (06J133201BD) from UK.  It's £330 here, but can be had for £135 from the States, including customs and postage ;)

Are you in warranty? If not, are you anywhere near the northeast? I'm about to order an IM for my own car and could order two if you're local.

Thanks for the offer but I'm down in Watford - car is well out of warranty but it could be that the part itself is within warranty.  Will see what the dealer says

I thought you got 2 years warranty  on dealer fitted parts.

No worries mate.  If it turns out you have to cough up for the part, it can be had on eBay via a US importer for £135, as opposed to paying £330 here in the UK.

Success - apparently there is a 2 year warranty on the part, so no big expense for me :)

Having recently paid £700 for having a new Inlet Manifold fitted a few weeks ago I was about to mention the 2yr warranty on the part.

Skoda are really dragging their feet on my goodwill payment - apparently a week before I had my work done they goodwill system changed. I'm still going to be gunning for 40-50%, but its just really taking its time.

is this an issue with the CR TDI?

is this an issue with the CR TDI?

I think its the petrol ones.
