Underbody rattles octavia scout

Featured Replies

I wondered if anyone has had knocks and bump sounds underneath their scout while on poor roads,OK on good roads it's really annoying ,I know the exhaust is is good condition, would be helpfull to know where to start looking

Knackered spring? Loose heatshield? Spare wheel? Rarb? Bushes?

I had the heat shield that goes over the exhaust back box come loose. The circular clips had rotted away.

I'm sorted, thanks for all the advice, had all the things checked they were OK, 2 garages could not find anything wrong, went too a 3rd in desperation asking to look myself as well, what they found was all three bolts were sheared off at the front of the sump guard!!!! With the heavy weight of the sump guard tapping against the thick mounting bar was the problem, mounting bar removed, drill and tap new holes refit all -purrfect!!!!! The worry to this is ,is that Skoda have serviced this vehicle at all service intervals and have had to remove this shield each time to change oil etc and have not dealt with or mentioned they broke the bolts !!! How poor is that !!! Maybe I should report this issue to Skoda what does anyone think.

Those bolts are quite beefy!

It could be that the dealer used an extraction pump to change the oil rather than removing the sump plug.
